Stó:lō Aboriginal Skills Employment Training Culinary Arts Program

A 16-week industry-entry cooks training program leading to employment and further training. The core principals of our program focus on professionalism, teamwork and communication. The hospitality and tourism industry is the highest in demand job sector into the year 2020.
Upon graduation, the students understand the industry expectations of working in a high demand commercial kitchen, and are ready for work or further apprenticeship training. Your career in hospitality awaits you.
The Culinary Art Program has two parts:
1. Assessment & Certificates
Part one is two weeks assessment and upgrading of Essential Skills and the delivery of industry-required safety certificates:
- First Aid
- Food Safe
- Workplace Hazardous Information System
- World Host
Part two is fourteen weeks of pre-apprenticeship training. This includes half the time in the Theory Kitchen learning skills, protocols, recipes and techniques, and half the time in the Commercial Kitchen, followed by a work practicum placement.
